Privacy Policy
This policy explains how Smart Market Guide handles information when you visit smartmarketguide.com.
Information Smart Market Guide Handles
Smart Market Guide currently does not offer user accounts, a newsletter, checkout, or a contact form and does not ask visitors to submit payment details or Amazon account credentials.
Visitors may voluntarily contact the editorial team by email. An email can include the sender's name, email address, message, and any information the sender chooses to provide.
Category selections on the home page are used only in the browser. When you submit a product name or ASIN through Amazon search, Smart Market Guide sends that term to Amazon through its server-side Creators API connection to return matching products. A temporary non-personalized response cache may be used for less than one hour to reduce repeated Amazon requests.
To understand which product topics need better coverage, Smart Market Guide stores eligible search terms as anonymous daily aggregates for up to 90 days. Each aggregate contains the normalized search term, calendar day, search count, total result count, and no-result count. It does not contain a visitor identity, IP address, cookie, device identifier, or individual event timestamp. Obvious email addresses, URLs, and phone-like numbers are excluded, and a term appears in the admin report only after it has been used at least twice.
Local-storage preferences record whether you dismissed the cookie notice and, when current Amazon opportunities are available, whether you dismissed the optional current-opportunities notice. Neither preference identifies you or records browsing activity.
Technical Delivery Data
Like most websites, the hosting and security infrastructure may process standard technical information such as IP address, browser type, device information, request time, and requested page. This information is used to deliver the site, maintain security, troubleshoot problems, and prevent abuse.
Analytics and Advertising
Smart Market Guide uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand aggregated page views and website performance. According to Cloudflare, this privacy-first service does not collect or use visitors' personal data and does not use cookies or local storage to collect usage metrics.
When a visitor intentionally follows a tagged Amazon product link, Smart Market Guide adds one click to a daily aggregate counter. The counter stores the calendar day, product ASIN, source page and source type, general link placement (such as a product-page button or category card), total click count, and—when present in the incoming site URL—standard campaign source, medium, and campaign-name labels. It does not store a visitor identity, IP address, cookie, browser or device identifier, or an individual event timestamp.
On-site product-search reporting also uses anonymous daily aggregate totals and is used to find missing topics and searches with no results. It is not joined to affiliate clicks or used to build visitor profiles.
Campaign labels remain ordinary URL parameters while a visitor moves between public guide, comparison, catalog, and product pages. Smart Market Guide does not save those labels in cookies, local storage, or session storage, and does not add them to the Amazon destination URL.
Smart Market Guide does not currently run Google Analytics or place its own advertising cookies. If advertising or additional analytics services are introduced, this policy and the cookie notice will be updated before they are used where consent is required.
Amazon Affiliate Links
Following an Amazon product link takes you from Smart Market Guide to Amazon. If the link contains an assigned Associate ID, Amazon may collect information, recognize or place cookies, and process referral and purchase activity under its own policies. Smart Market Guide may then receive aggregated commission and performance reporting.
Smart Market Guide refreshes Amazon product information through a server-side connection. Creators API credentials are not sent to visitors, and product refresh requests are not built from a visitor's Amazon account information.
Review the Amazon Privacy Notice and our Amazon Associates Disclosure for more information.
Data Sharing and Retention
Smart Market Guide does not sell personal information. Information may be processed by service providers only as needed to host, secure, and operate the site, forward correspondence, or disclosed when required by law.
Anonymous daily affiliate-click totals may be retained to compare the usefulness of products, source pages, and named campaigns over time. Anonymous daily search aggregates are automatically deleted after 90 days. Direct correspondence may be retained for as long as reasonably needed to respond, document a correction, protect the site, or maintain a relevant business record. The cookie-notice preference remains on your device until you clear browser storage.
Your Choices
You can clear local storage and cookies in your browser, avoid affiliate links, or visit Amazon directly. Depending on where you live, applicable law may provide additional rights concerning personal information processed by service providers.
Children's Privacy
Smart Market Guide is a general-audience shopping guide and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
